"There's a staff legendary in the demo that transforms the spell's fireball in triple fireball," the former D2R Items director of games Luis Barriga told Polygon(opens in new tab) back in 2019. "The thing that's different is that you know that a cast right now in live Diablo 3 gives you bonuses greater than a thousand. I believe we're working on this game now to be a little less constrained in order to avoid getting us into that super ever-increasing performance curve."
If you're not aware the term, Set Items are basically strong parts of equipment that give the most power when put together. They're called "set" because they always provide the same bonuses, and, well they're part of sets. The first time they were introduced was with Diablo 2, though it was only in Diablo 3 that they were really dominant. It remains to be seen how they will affect how they affect the Diablo 4 meta should they be released, but we have no doubt that their influence on the upcoming fashion scene will be felt.
The Diablo 4 beta hasn't convinced me as of yet, but I'm excited to play more (Set Items or not).
With the constant stream of PC games news is never dull. Our wonderful virtual world continues to rotate on its metaphorical axis, there's a lot to look forward to in the coming year. We've got Hogwarts Legacy, Starfield, Diablo 4 and many more however, it's worthwhile to cast our minds back to some of the most memorable PC games of 2022. As the holiday season comes to an end and fireworks are visible on the horizon we've taken on the task of compiling a selection of the year's biggest news events in one spot - after all there's nothing wrong about a bit of nostalgia?
Some of the biggest events to emerge from January was Blizzard's announcement a new game set in an "all different universe" is in the works which adds yet another line to buy diablo 2 resurrected items maker's symbolic bow. It wasn't alone in announcing something fresh and innovative, though, as Apex Legends creator Respawn Entertainment also announced it's working on a new triple A shooter.
